Workshop: a promising export opportunities for Saudi products in the German market
The Asharqia Chamber in cooperation with the German Liaison Office for Economic Affairs Arabic (GESALO) held a workshop entitled 'Exporting to Germany' on Monday, November 17, 2014. Mr. Andreas Hergenroether, the Delegate of GESALO, and Mr. Jan Lutz Mueller, Head of the German Desk at Jubail, offered rich presentations on the German market and possible ways for companies to enter into it. Mr. Ulf-Gregor Schulz focused on the legal aspects a potential exporter must consider before entering the German market. During the workshop, a case study was presented by Mr. Ibrahim Ismail Shah Bhai, General Manager of Marketing and Sales for Chemanol. He highlighted his experience in exporting their products to the German market particularly DMF which are mostly used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Mr. Abdulmohsen Abdulrahman Al-Farj, Board Member of the Asharqia Chamber, said in his opening remarks that Saudi Arabia has a lot to offer to the German market and is now able to manufacture world-class products.
The Workshop commended the positive role played by the German Desk in Jubail, with a view to enhance trade and mutual investments in the two countries. According to official statistics, the value of Saudi exports to Germany in 2013 reached approximately 1.8 billion riyals, while German exports to Saudi Arabia rose to more than $ 44.8 billion making them the third largest exporting country to the Kingdom. German technology and products are very popular in the Saudi market. The Kingdom currently has over 700 German companies with combined investments of more than $ 8 billion. Mr. Abdulmohsen Al-Farj has invited the German business sector to take advantage of attractive and economic policy package announced by the Saudi Government to foreign investors. Furthermore, he has encouraged Saudi companies to explore the option of exporting to Germany in order to avail the opportunities offered by the German market
